ºûµûÖ±²¥ relies on the expertise of our members to collaborate, create, and address the most important issues impacting public works. Participation in an ºûµûÖ±²¥ group or committee presents an opportunity to give back to the profession and share your unique expertise and viewpoint.

ºûµûÖ±²¥ offers a variety of ways for our members to get involved, from short-term volunteer projects to participation in a committee, council, or board service. With every new volunteer, ºûµûÖ±²¥ grows more energized, more diverse and inclusive, and better equipped to tackle the challenges within the public works profession.

National Appointments

Nominate yourself or a colleague to serve on an ºûµûÖ±²¥ national committee, council, task force, or as the ºûµûÖ±²¥ representative on an external organization. Appointments are made by the ºûµûÖ±²¥ President-Elect. ºûµûÖ±²¥ committee members are current association members, unless otherwise noted. Click here to review all committees and groups.

Knowledge Teams and Subcommittees

Participating on a knowledge team or subcommittee is a great way to show you’re interested in serving on a committee in the future as positions become open. A knowledge team is created to consult the committee on a variety of projects. Knowledge team members have the flexibility to work on projects that most interest them and fit their schedules. A subcommittee is assigned to a specific discipline within an ºûµûÖ±²¥ committee. Subcommittees meet on a regular basis.

Examples of work done by knowledge team and subcommittee members include: Coordinating Click, Listen & Learn programs, contributing to PWX sessions, providing feedback on committee priorities, serving as a liaison to local chapters, and contributing articles to the ºûµûÖ±²¥ Reporter.

Nominations to join a knowledge team or subcommittee are considered year-round. If you would like to join a subcommittee or knowledge team, please email education@apwa.org.
